Come back to this page for regular updates on the race. Is bad weather going to cause a problem ? Will there be a registration stop ? Where do we park ?

Registration information (updated 14th January)

Pre registration is highly recommended. It will guarantee your starting place and we will reserve your race number for you. It will also take a lot less time to collect your number on the day. All necessary information can be found on the registration form which you can download via this link.

Another advantage is that you will be receiving updates by email in the run up to the race. If the weather is likely to jeopardise the race it will be handy to know what the conditions of the course is. We got great feedback from runners last year as we kept them informed and took away the fear of driving to Stoke St Gregory in vain.

Collecting your race number (updated 19 November)

All race numbers will be handed out in the Williams Hall, a 1 minute walk away from the finish. There will be a queue system set up for pre registrations and a second one for new registrations. Both will be clearly signposted. Please make sure you queue in the right channel.

Marshalls even more visible (updated 19 November)

Safe and friendly marshalling is an important part of the Stoke Stampede. This has also been recognised by YSL ltd who kindly sponsored us 50 very bright yellow vests with the words Stoke Stampede Crew printed on the back. There can be no doubt who to ask for directions and help during the race thanks to Yaskin Sport Limited.

Parking on the day (updated 19 November)

Safety is our main aim ! You are therefore strongly advised to follow our marshalls parking instructions who follow a strict parking plan. From whichever direction you arrive at Stoke St Gregory, you will be welcomed by clearly visible parking marshalls. They will guide you to the first available parking location. We will try to avoid any on road parking so please do not leave your car randomly parked. Worst case we will have to have it towed away at your own expense in order to avoid any risks to runners and other traffic.

Please, whenever possible try to carpool with fellow runners and fans.

When leaving the village after the race please 'go with the flow'. A peak in traffic will highly likely cause congestion (for which unlike some major cities we will not charge you). We trust that, as we are all like minded running fanatics, you will all await your turn to join the queue leaving the village. Best alternative really is to stay for a drink, snack and a chat in the Royal Oak and wait for the traffic to slow down. When you do however, please don't drink and drive.

Sports voucher for all runners (updated 19 November)

Tony Pryce Sports shops are well known around the South West of England. They are a long term supporter of the Stoke Stampede. This year they have kindly offered us as part of their sponsor package a voucher for all 2010 runners. Make sure you get yours when you collect your race number and an offer from a top quality fitness company to apply for a free trial day.

News related to previous editions of the Stoke Stampede :

Free massage available for all runners (updated 14th January 2011)

In 2009 we were pleasantly surprised by an offer of professionals to look after our athletes muscles after the run. Bowhouse Physiotherapy based in Langport set up their portable massage clinic in the Williams Hall where they massage many sets of battered legs as well as provided lots of very useful advice to the Stoke Stampede runners.

For your benefit we are thrilled to announce that Bowhouse therapists are likely to be available again this year to look after you for a quick cool down treatment after the race. They will be located in the hall where you collect your race numbers. Which is also a secure space to leave your luggage as it our data entry team will be based there as well.

New prize for the best fun runner (updated 14th January 2011)

26 years ago the Stoke Stampede started as a fun run including pram racing. Over the year more runners started to take part and the prams slowly disappeared. Still we have seen many fun runners in fancy dress appear at the start and entertain the crowds on their 10K run. We think it is time to award the efforts of the fun runners with an appropriate prize. Put on your fancy dress and make the crowds cheer when passing through the village square and you will be scored by some members of our organising committee. A voucher (to be spent at the Royal Oak after the race) will be awarded to the most eye catching fun runner during the award ceremony which starts at 12.00 hours in the village square. We know the race is not a Boxing Day race now but we challenge the fun runners amongst you to find a Santa or Rudolph outfit !
